From time to time, it is recommended that you change the password used to log in to your e-mail for email security purposes. This will provide the e-mail with additional protection, as well as help to log into the mail in case of a password loss.

Instructions
Step 1
To change the password on the mail.ru portal, go to the main page of the service and on the left side of the page, where immediately below the resource logo is the inscription "Mail" in the appropriate line, enter your login (email address). Then click the link "Forgot your password?" and go to the new page dedicated to account recovery.
Step 2
To get started, here you will need to specify the email address again, and do not forget to select the correct domain. There are several of them on mail.ru: bk.ru, inbox.ru, list.ru, mail.ru. After that, press the "Restore" button and proceed to the next step.
Step 3
To continue the password recovery procedure, on the next page that opens, you will need to enter the characters from the picture in a special field. After that, an SMS message with a code will be sent to the phone, the number of which was specified during the registration of the e-mail box. You will need to enter it later to continue the recovery procedure. Enter a combination of letters and numbers in the appropriate field, then click the button that says "Get code by SMS." If you cannot make out what exactly is written in the picture, click the "I do not see the code" link, and the picture will be updated. And you can try to dial again.
Step 4
Within a few seconds, an SMS with an alphanumeric code will be sent to the phone whose number was entered earlier on the password recovery page. It will need to be specified in a special window on a new page. And only after that you should press the "Finish" button.
Step 5
The last step in restoring access to email is to change your password. A new combination of characters that you are going to use in the future to enter your mailbox will have to be written at the next stage, where a new page with two lines will open. Enter the new password in the upper column, then repeat it in the lower one. Then click the "Login to mail" button.
Step 6
For convenience, it is recommended to write and save the password in a new text document. In this case, you will not need to constantly indicate it when entering the mail, it will be enough to copy the password from the file and paste it in a special column on the main page of the service.
Step 7
If you remember the password, but just in case decided to change it, you can use the above method or use the second option for this purpose. For it, you will need to go to e-mail and find the "More" button on the top toolbar, click it and select the "Settings" item in the drop-down window. After that, you will be taken to a new page where you will need to find the "Password and Security" section. These links are located both in the center of the page and on the left side of it. Click this button and in the window that opens, find the button that says "Change password". Click the link and in a new window, in the appropriate lines, enter the current password and the new one, which will need to be repeated again in the bottom line. In the special field, enter the characters from the picture and click the "Change" button. After completing this step, to enter the mail, you will need to specify a new password.
