All modern laptops and most smartphones are equipped with a Wi-Fi module, which makes it possible to connect to wireless Internet in cafes, restaurants, entertainment centers and other places where free Wi-Fi Internet access is provided. But how do you connect a laptop or smartphone to a Wi-Fi hotspot?

Step 1
To connect your laptop to the free wireless internet, make sure the Wi-Fi module is turned on. In most laptop models, the Wi-Fi module is activated when the computer is turned on, and an indicator light on the case turns on. If Wi-Fi is turned off, then you can turn it on using a separate button or a lever with the corresponding designation.
Step 2
After confirming that Wi-Fi is active, click on the wireless icon in the taskbar at the lower right corner of the screen. In the list of available networks that opens, click on the one in the name of which there is the word Free or next to which there is no padlock icon. If the network is free and public, it will connect. If the connection is successful, a notification will appear in the right corner of the screen that you have connected to the wireless network. Now you can use the Internet.
Step 3
To connect your smartphone to the wireless Internet, you need to launch the Internet browser. Before connecting to the Internet, the smartphone will notify you that a wireless network is available and will offer to connect to it. Select a free network and your smartphone will connect. Most smartphone models save in memory a list of networks to which a connection has already been made, and the next time you access them, it connects to these networks automatically.
