One of the types of modems can be installed on a personal computer. Each of them has its own specific settings. However, sometimes there is a problem with automatic connection.
Instructions
Step 1
This can be corrected using standard operating system tools. It is enough to make some settings. On the computer desktop, double-click on the "My Computer" shortcut with the left mouse button. Next, on the left side of the window that opens, find the item "Network Neighborhood". This is a special menu that presents all network as well as local connections on the computer.
Step 2
Click the Show All Connections button. After a few seconds, a list of all connections will appear. Select the shortcut that is responsible for connecting to the Internet. Usually the name coincides with the service operator that provides access to the network. Right-click on this shortcut. A context menu will appear. Select Properties. The system will show you a window that presents all the settings.
Step 3
Go to the "Options" tab. Find the “auto connect” column. You need to uncheck the box next to this item so that the system no longer automatically connects to the Internet. Click the Save button. All changes will be automatically saved in the computer system. However, this method only works on USB modems. Devices that are connected via a fiber optic cable must be reconfigured using a different method.
Step 4
Click the "Start" button. Go to the "Automatic download" tab. If there is an icon for your connection, delete it and restart your computer. You can do everything using the command line. Click "Start" and click on the "Run" button. Enter the msconfig command and press Enter. Go to the "Services" tab. Find the item "Remote connection auto-connection manager" there and uncheck the box. Save all changes and restart your computer.
