Internet Explorer users are often faced with the need to restart the browser. The system may ask you to restart the browser both in the case of installing extensions and add-ons for the browser, and when the program hangs. In the first case, we can close / open the browser, but in the other, everything is not so simple. To restart a frozen Internet Explorer, we need to open the Windows Task Manager - a program that allows you to manage all processes running on your computer.
It is necessary
- - Internet Explorer browser;
- - Windows Task Manager.
Instructions
Step 1
You can open the Windows Task Manager by right-clicking on an empty space on the taskbar located at the bottom of the screen. Select Task Manager from the context menu.
Step 2
If your computer is unresponsive to mouse input, try pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
Step 3
The "Task Manager" will appear on the screen and you will see several tabs. Find the "Applications" tab, as a rule, the program opens on it. The window will display all currently running programs and their status.
Step 4
Find Internet Explorer in the list of programs. If the program has really stopped responding to user actions, it will have the appropriate status.
Step 5
Highlight Internet Explorer by clicking the left mouse button, and click End Task at the bottom of the window. Confirm the action by clicking OK.
Step 6
If there are not responding programs in the list in addition to Internet Explorer, quit them.
Step 7
It happens that this action does not bring the desired result. If so, go to the Processes tab in the Task Manager.
Step 8
The window will display all processes running on the computer, as well as additional information about them. Find the file named iexplore.exe in the list.
Step 9
Select the process by clicking the left mouse button. Click “End Process” at the bottom of the window and confirm your action by clicking “Yes”.
Step 10
Close the "Task Manager" window and launch the browser by double-clicking on its icon on the desktop.
