Instructions

Step 1

It is worth noting that the magazine with site addresses in different browsers can be called differently. So, in the Mozilla Firefox browser it is "Bookmarks", in Internet Explorer - "Favorites", nevertheless, the different names do not change the essence, and the principle of action does not change from this either.

Step 2

To save bookmarks when reinstalling Mozilla Firefox, start your browser in the usual way and select Bookmarks from the menu bar. In the drop-down menu, click on the first item "Show all bookmarks", a new window "Library" will open.

Step 3

From the toolbar at the top of the window, select Import & Backup and then Backup. Specify a directory to save bookmarks. If you plan to reinstall only the browser, the operation can be one-time, and bookmarks can be saved in any directory, for example, on the desktop. If a reinstallation of the system is foreseen, it is better not to store copies of the bookmarks on the disk with the operating system.

Step 4

After reinstalling your browser, repeat the steps in step two. In the Library window, select the Import and Back up tool and the Restore command. In the submenu, click on the "Select file" item. Specify the path to the backup copy of bookmarks, the log with addresses will be restored.

Step 5

When backing up to Firefox, bookmarks are saved in.json format. If you want to install another browser that does not work with this file format, another method is suitable for you.

Step 6

Open the Library window and choose Export Bookmarks to HTML File from the Import & Backup menu. The html format is more familiar and recognized by all browsers. Enter a file name (if required) and specify a path to save a copy of your bookmarks. Launch a new browser, select the Import from File command and specify the path to the saved file in the prompt window.
