Setting up and maintaining a website requires an understanding of several key elements, including domain registrars, domain name servers (DNS), programming languages, databases, optimization, and file transfer protocol (FTP). In fact, it is not difficult at all.
Instructions
Step 1
Register your domain name with one of the online registrars such as Network Solutions or GoDaddy. Renew your registration at least once. This will prevent accidental loss of your domain. The prices for this service are different.
Step 2
Find a trusted hosting provider for the keyword "hosting". List the requirements for your site and contact your hosting representative directly. Please note that some services may not support such necessary parameters as programming language (PHP, C ++, ASP), databases or electronic payments, to provide an adequate level of security. Choose a hosting provider that backs up your website on a daily basis. In the event of a server failure, your backup copies of files will help restore the site, otherwise all information will be irretrievably lost.
Step 3
Register DNS for your domain. If you are unsure how to do this, contact your registrar or hosting provider. Index your website in search engines.
Step 4
Make a backup copy of all active files on the site that you intend to change periodically. If newer versions of the files cause errors, you will have the original version as a backup. Upload web files via FTP using one of the applications such as CuteFTP or CPanel. This will allow you to change the content of the site without even opening your browser.
Step 5
Examine the error log located in the CPanel to find problem areas on the page. Please report any error messages to your hosting provider.
Step 6
Change and add new content to the site as often as possible, otherwise you will quickly lose leading positions in search engines. Sites with constantly updated content always rank high in the search.
