The use of the resources of the general network should not bring negative consequences, for example, threaten the security of your computer. Internet browser Mozilla Firefox provides high protection for your PC while working on the network by blocking some malicious sites.
Instructions
Step 1
Download a Mozilla add-on that will allow you to block specific sites. For this purpose, BlockSite is used. This add-on creates and subsequently supplements the list of prohibited Internet sites. You can download this useful product, for example, at the link https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/addon/3145. Install the application following the instructions and add it to Firefox. Restart your browser.
Step 2
Select the "Add-ons" item in the "Tools" tab of the menu. Open the list of installed add-ons and find BlockSite. Click on the name of the application and in the window that opens, select the "Settings" button. A window will open containing a list of sites and the BlockSite Preferences item from the Enable functions group. Go to the Enable BlockSite settings, where you can enable blocking of unwanted sites. You can also program the display of a message that contains a warning that you are trying to go to a prohibited site in the Enable warning messages settings. The BlockSite add-on has a feature to enable clipping of links to those sites that you have blocked. It can be launched using the Enable link removal button.
Step 3
Fill in the list of sites that are denied access from your computer in the Blacklist tab. If you want to deny access to all but a few sites, BlockSite will help you with that as well. Just add the addresses of allowed sites to the Whitelist. Protect all your settings with a password in the Authentication menu item. Then only those who know the password will be able to unblock the entrance to prohibited sites.
Step 4
Adjust the "Blacklist". To do this, go to the Enabled functions group and set the Enable BlockSite and Blacklist option there. By clicking the Add button, you can add sites to the unwanted list. Otherwise, if you want to remove a site from the blacklist, select it and click the Remove button. You can correct the spelling of the site address by selecting the desired site and clicking the Edit button. If you wish, you can completely clear the list of blocked sites using the Clear list button. To save any changes you have made, click the "OK" button.
