The presence of the Internet for every user is of great importance. After all, it opens up wide possibilities. In modern offices, documents, copies of contracts, financial statements are sent via e-mail. Through the World Wide Web, you can find remote work, communicate, share files, play online games.
The Internet has appeared quite a long time ago, but has recently become widespread. Its appearance was associated with the need to develop a reliable system for emergency data transmission in case of war.
The Internet is a well-known international system with unified computer networks. This system was built on the IP protocols as well as their routing.
The number of registered users on the network is constantly growing. At the beginning of 2012, this number was over two billion.
The importance of the Internet in human life is now very great, because it is used in the media, communications and electronic business. Thanks to the Internet, people have the opportunity to listen to music, watch various films, read books, and communicate.
When did the internet appear?
Interestingly, the Internet appeared over forty years ago. Moreover, the emergence of such a method of transferring information was able to foresee many figures from past centuries. Odoevsky, who is a famous Russian writer, and his English colleague Forster, have described the emergence of a similar system. They believed that its main goal would be to serve humanity.
The idea was picked up by famous science fiction writers, including Sergei Snegov, the Strugatsky brothers and Isaac Asimov. However, few anticipated that the Internet would indeed appear soon.
The fact is that in the twentieth century, electronics and technology developed very rapidly. That is why, several decades after the end of the Second World War, humanity has just made a huge leap forward in development.
Why did the Internet appear?
The emergence of the global network was associated with the need for the United States to develop a reliable system for transmitting information in case of possible military action. In 1969, on October 29, as part of the ARPANET (military project), the first session of data exchange between computers took place: one was located at Stanford, and the other at the University of California. This date is considered to be the day of the origin of the Internet.
The physical network itself, which connected computers, appeared in the form familiar to many much later. Now the influence of the Internet can hardly be overestimated. The World Wide Web is a collection of a huge number of servers with protocols. Their task is to regulate the exchange of information between users and servers.
The Internet you use was invented by Tim Berners-Lee, a famous British scientist back in 1989. It was just a collection of specialized text documents that was written in HTML.
