Every computer on the network is assigned an IP address. It is a unique network identifier; there cannot be two computers with the same address on the network at the same time. Moreover, the addresses can be static and dynamic. Sometimes the user needs to know the type of IP address he is using.

What is the difference between a static IP address and a dynamic one? The fact that the first never changes, while the second changes with each new connection. The type of IP address is determined by your ISP and largely depends on the connection method you use. In the case of a wired Internet, it is most often (but not always) static - that is, it is assigned once and does not change, even if you turn off the computer.

If you are using a USB modem, the IP address is dynamic. When you connect, you are allocated a free address from the range belonging to the provider, while the logs of the server through which the connection is made contain information about who and at what time this IP address was assigned. When using a USB modem, it is possible, for a fee, to obtain a permanent address.
Step 3
To determine your type of IP-address, go to one of the services that provide such services, for example, the site https://www.ip-1.ru/ At the top of the page, you will see your current network address. Write it down, then disconnect from the internet and wait a few minutes. Then reconnect to the Internet, go to the above service and check the same entry. If it is the same, then your IP address is static. If the record has changed, then it is dynamic.

Are there any advantages to static or dynamic addresses? A static address is needed for someone who has open resources on their computer - for example, they have installed their own ftp server. If you are a site administrator, then a static address allows you to configure access to a resource by binding to an IP address, which significantly increases security.

The disadvantage of a static address is that an attacker, having learned it, can methodically pick up "master keys" to your computer. Since the IP address does not change, it has almost unlimited time to hack. In this regard, a dynamic address that changes with each new connection turns out to be much safer.
