Various methods can be used to connect multiple access points. Typically, in such situations, a bridge is created that connects the various networks into a single whole. Sometimes a "bridge" connection is also used when setting up a stationary computer.
It is necessary
- - Wi-Fi adapter;
- - Wi-Fi hotspot.
Instructions
Step 1
To create a wireless bridge, you must use at least two devices that work with a Wi-Fi network. If an appropriate adapter is installed in your computer, and you want to connect your laptop to the Internet wirelessly, then follow these steps.
Step 2
Open the Network and Sharing Center. Open the Manage Wireless Adapters menu. Create a new computer-to-computer connection. Select the type of encryption, set a password, and set a name for the access point.
Step 3
Open the list of network connections. Highlight the wireless connection and the desired local network (internet connection). Right-click and select "Create Bridge". Wait for the new "Bridging" icon to appear. Open the properties for this connection and configure the options you want. Set a static IP address if necessary for your internet connection to work.
Step 4
Turn on your mobile computer. Activate the search for available wireless networks. Select the access point that was created using the Wi-Fi adapter of your computer. Click the "Connect" button, enter the password and wait for the connection to be established.
Step 5
To create a bridge between two Wi-Fi routers, you need to use a different scheme. Open the settings of the device that is secondary, i.e. does not have a direct internet connection. Open the network connection settings and select the Bridge mode.
Step 6
In the Bridge Settings menu, select the two channels that you want to combine into a single scheme. Given the fact that you are creating a wireless bridge, specify the Wi-Fi channel in the first column, and a specific LAN port or the entire set of network ports (LAN 0-X) in the second.
Step 7
If this Wi-Fi router works in single channel mode, then you will not be able to connect mobile computers to it. This is because the equipment is already connected to another access point.
