Quite often, users of a personal computer come across such a concept as a beta version, but not every one of them understands what it really is.
What is Beta?
The beta version, as you might guess, is not the final version of some software or web resource. Beta version should be understood as the procedure for testing any software or website. Usually beta testing is carried out when programmers have created the main functional part of a game or site and checked it for errors. Naturally, programmers and developers can make a mistake and, of course, it is impossible to check everything thoroughly on your own for one simple reason - it will take too much time. This is why beta testing was created.
Why beta testing?
During the beta test, regular users are given the opportunity to participate. Usually it is either closed or open. If beta testing is open, then everyone can participate in this process. If the beta testing is closed, then only those people who have fulfilled a certain condition can take part in the test. In addition, beta testing may be limited in the number of participants.
As mentioned above, most of the functionality is already in beta. Users can only check the program or website for defects or errors. For the most part, this version of the product appears just before the release of the final product. The beta version goes through a whole cycle of internal testing, which in the end can show the stability of the work of a site or program. During this, users are given the opportunity to write about the found errors and shortcomings to the developers themselves. In addition, in the same letter, they can leave their wishes.
If a beta version of some software is launched, then usually a special text file is supplied with the program, which contains a list of all changes in comparison with the previous version of the product, a description of the problems known at the time of the appearance of the beta version and errors that should be fixed with the release of the final version. As for a specific site itself, this procedure is practically the same - the user can also leave his messages to administrators or developers indicating various requirements and wishes.
