In some cases, an Internet user is faced with the task of finding out his own IP address. He may have several such addresses: inside the local network, external, assigned by the provider, and sometimes the one located behind the proxy server.

Instructions

Step 1

To find out your IP address inside the local network, in Windows OS, click on the icon with two stylized monitors located in the lower right part of the screen, or run the ipconfig / All command. In the second case, you will also receive additional data. For example, if the network is accessed through a network card, you will know its MAC address.

Step 2

On Linux, run the ifconfig command to determine the IP address within the local network. If you use a mobile phone to access the Internet using the KPPP program, click on the "Details" button in it, and in the "KPPP Statistics" tab you will see the address inside the operator's local network, as well as the external IP address. Please note that sometimes, due to a bug in this program, these two addresses are reversed.

Step 3

Go to the site, the address of which is indicated at the end of the page. Please note that it is sometimes unavailable from the phone when using the UC browser. Depending on how you access the Internet, you will find out either one address (external, which was assigned to you by the provider), or two (external and located behind the proxy server). The second situation occurs if you use compression tools for received and transmitted data (for example, Opera Mini, Opera Turbo, UC, Skweezer). Please note that these servers are not anonymizing (that is, the owners of the sites you visit will still find out your real external address). The use of anonymizing proxy servers is considered bad form in most forums and other Internet resources.

Step 4

To find out if your IP address is static or dynamic, disconnect from the network and then reconnect to it. Now check all three addresses (on the local network, outside and behind the proxy server). Those of them that have changed compared to the previous ones are dynamic.
