Instructions

Step 1

Open the main menu of the basic settings of the router on your computer. To do this, launch any Internet browser on another computer, previously connected to your network equipment. Write down the IP address of the router and press the Enter key. Enter your username and your password. You will get access to the settings of the connected device.

Step 2

Completely disconnect all network computers (if necessary) by disconnecting the internet connection to the router. To do this, go to the "Status" menu. Find information about the status of your internet connection. Click the Disable button.

Step 3

If you need to disconnect a specific device from the network or the Internet, open the advanced options menu. Go to the "Route Table" section. Select the required local port and delete all routes intended for it. This action will remove the settings for static routes. If the DHCP function remains active, all computers can communicate with the Internet.

Step 4

If using an ASUS router, open the Status menu. Find a list of devices connected to this router and a network diagram. Select the name of your computer or laptop from the list and set the option for it to “Disable”. Be careful: disabling the gateway in this way is recommended only if network computers are connected to the router through hubs (several computers are connected to one port of the router). If the computer is directly connected to the LAN port, simply disconnect the connection by unplugging the network cable from the power source. The gateway will shut down automatically.

Step 5

Enter the MAC address of the computer's network card in the routing table if you need to disconnect a specific computer from the network for a long time. Set the MAC address to Disable. Reboot the router to activate the configuration change.
