When communicating on the Internet, you do not see the faces of your interlocutors, and therefore, in order to make communication more interpersonal, people prefer to post avatars on blogs, forums, social networks and chats - small photos that make accounts more lively and individual. Even a novice PC user can create an avatar from any of his photos - for this you need an easy-to-use GIMP program, in which you can easily edit any image.
Instructions
Step 1
Take the photo from which you want to cut your face and open it in GIMP after downloading and installing the program. To open a photo, drag it from the folder it contains to the open GIMP window, or right-click on the image and select the Edit with GIMP option. The photo will appear in the main window of the program.
Step 2
On the GIMP toolbar, select the rectangular selection option by clicking on the dotted square icon. Check the box next to the "Fix" line. Then determine which area of the photo you want to cut out, and by clicking on the upper left edge of the selected area with the left mouse button, select your face in the photo with a small square.
Step 3
If necessary, edit the selection by moving it, decreasing or enlarging it. Then click on the selected square with the right mouse button and select the "Scrape Selection" option. You will be left with the square cut out with the face, and the rest of the photo will disappear.
Step 4
Now edit the size of the future avatar so that you can use it later on various sites. Usually, on forums and blogs, the available size for an avatar is 100x100 pixels or 200x200 pixels. Right-click on the photo and then select the Image> Image Size option. Enter the desired height and width of the picture in the window that appears - for example, 200x200. Click "Change" to apply the changes. Save the photo by clicking the "Save As" option in the "File" menu.
Step 5
Save your avatar in.jpg
