Installing the SP1a updates for the Internet Gateway Discovery and Management Client for Windows XP is an optional component. That is why it can be removed. This can be done in several ways.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main program menu and uninstall the "Internet Gateway Discovery and Control Client" application. After that, go to the "Control Panel" section. Open the item "Add or Remove Programs", use the function called "Add Windows Components".
Step 2
Click on the "Network Services" item, expand it by clicking the "Composition" button. In the box that says Internet Service Discovery and Control Client, uncheck the box and click OK to confirm your choice.
Step 3
To save the changes, click on the "Next" button. Then click on "Finish" to authorize the removal of the selected component. Restart your computer to apply the saved changes (for Windows XP).
Step 4
Simultaneously press the keys Win + K in order to bring up a dialog with the name "Run", and in the "Open" field enter the inscription cmd (for Windows 7).
Step 5
Click the "OK" button to authorize the launch of the command line utility. Then enter ipconfig / all in the command interpreter field. Look for the line called "Default Gateway", to check if it works, use the syntax ping gateway_ip_address (for Windows 7).
Step 6
Click OK to authorize the command prompt and enter a value. Use the syntax after you find the name string.
Step 7
Reboot the device used to access the internet if ping is not possible. Close the antivirus application and the installed firewall program.
Step 8
After restarting your computer, reconnect the device you are using to access the Internet to fix existing errors (Windows 7).
Step 9
Never use the recommendations found on the Internet for editing the system file called sysoc.inf. This can cause the Windows operating system to malfunction.
