A page containing several news or articles is inconvenient to read if all texts are placed on it in full. You can leave only the opening paragraphs, and put the rest in separate files. Each of them will have a link designated as "More".

Instructions

Step 1

Make a backup copy of the front page of the news section or articles of the site. You can copy the file itself, the text from it, or its HTML code. In the latter case, a text editor is required that provides saving without formatting, for example, Geany, KWrite, Notepad, Notepad ++.

Step 2

Create a page template for an individual news or article. Leave in it only those elements that do not change from page to page. This can be, for example, a menu, headings, the bottom line indicating the authorship of the site and coordinates for contacting its owner. Name the file, for example, article.html. Do not put it on the server.

Step 3

Make as many copies of the template file as there are texts. Name these copies according to their content, for example: android-3-0-released-today.html, new-library-built-in-our-town.html, and the like. Place the text corresponding to the name in each of the files. Don't confuse them.

Step 4

In an HTML site with a newsfeed home page, after each entry, place a link that looks like this:

More details, where article-file-name.html is the name of the file with the full text of the corresponding news or article.

Step 5

Put all the resulting HTML files on the server, except for the template. Having entered the site, follow all the links "More". Make sure that they are not confused and that after each of the introductions there is a link to the full text of the relevant news.

Step 6

Perhaps some users will find it more convenient to read all texts in full on one page. If any of your site visitors asks you to do this, give the previously created backup a different name from the title page of the news section or articles, and put this file on the server. Link to it from the front page and from there back to that page. Remember to update both feeds each time you add new text.
