Each program that communicates with the Internet takes up a portion of your network access channel. When something big is uploaded, pages open very slowly or don't load at all. It is even more difficult for those who share one connection to several computers - one person is downloading a movie, and the rest cannot even check their mailbox. Knowing how to limit the download speed can provide a comfortable experience for all users and programs.

Step 1
You need to find the corresponding menu or button in a specific utility. Downloads are made in different programs, but the most popular are torrent clients and download managers. The developers took into account the need to adjust the speed of their applications and built in tools to manage the channel load. This is done differently in each program, but the general principle is the same.
Step 2
Start uTorrent. Double click on the shortcut on the desktop or activate the torrent file from the menu with the right mouse button. The program window will open with a list of downloaded files. On the bottom line, on the right side, find the large U and the numbers next to it. To the right you will see the letter D. It means download, that is, "download". Right-click next to this letter and select a download speed value from the menu. For example, if a file is being downloaded at 300 kb / s, select 200 kb / s - this will limit the download speed, but will not stop it. Try different options to get the most out of your internet experience. There is another way to set the limit - through the settings menu.
Step 3
Left-click on the "Settings" item in the top line of uTorrent. Select the "Configuration" line from the drop-down list. A window of parameters will open, consisting of two halves: categories and possible settings. Click on "Speed" in the column to the left. In the right part of the window you will see the line "General download limit" and a window for the value. Left-click in this window and enter the desired number. Then click the "Apply" button and OK. UTorrent is now subject to this restriction. A similar method works in other torrent clients as well.
Step 4
Another case is if the download is carried out by a special program, for example, Download Master. Such applications are also capable of occupying the entire available channel. Click the "Actions" button in the main window of the program and select the "Speed" line. You will see a list of five options, among which activate the item "Adjustable". Now, in the bottom line of the Download Master window, find the slider and move it to the left. You will immediately notice how the picture in the upper right corner has changed. Move the adjuster until you reach a suitable speed limit.
