Skype is a popular program for making video calls and exchanging messages between two or more interlocutors. All operations performed in the application are saved in the user's history, which, if necessary, can be transferred to another computer.
Instructions
Step 1
Files with the history of messages and calls of the Skype program are stored in one of the hidden system folders. To access it, go to your computer's control panel and select Folder Options. On the "View" tab, uncheck the box next to "Hide system folders". Now go to My Documents and open the Application Data folder that appears. Find the folder called Skype and open it. Here you will find several subfolders, one of which will have your username in the program. Copy the folder with your Skype profile name and place it on an external storage medium such as Mini-USB Flash, hard drive or CD-ROM.
Step 2
Install Skype on the computer you need. After starting the program, note that you already have a registered profile. Enter your username and password and wait for the application to launch. Exit Skype and navigate to the directory specified in the previous step. You will only have to replace the new folder with your name with the folder that is located on the external data carrier. As soon as you restart Skype, the saved history will be automatically integrated into the program.
Step 3
Try to recover your Skype history if you don't find it in Application Data. You can use special data recovery software, for example, Handy Recovery. In the search options for deleted files, specify the name of the Skype program or the name of your profile. In addition, you can ask for help your interlocutors from the list of contacts in Skype and ask them to copy and forward the history of messages and calls to you in the manner indicated above. In the future, periodically copy the file with the history to an external data carrier in order to avoid loss of information due to a sudden failure in the operating system.
