Step 1
In such cases, you can use special programs to find the remote server. For example, download and install “MasterServers” on your computer. This patch finds the servers needed for the game, especially for Counter-Strike. Enter the resulting file “MasterServers.vdf” into the folder where the game components are stored. For example, the file path might look like this: "C: GamesCounter-Strike 1.6platformconfigMasterServers.vdf". Right click on MasterServers.vdf. A window will open where you will find the "Properties" section. Click on it with your mouse. Next, a window will open again, where select the "Attributes" item. In the field where it says "Read only", put a check mark. Everything is ready and now the servers will be found.

There is a similar program for finding servers for other games, such as Half-Life. CS Scanner performs a full search procedure at startup. For this, there are special buttons "Scanner" and "Monitoring". The found information will be posted as a list. Go to the "Settings" item and set the required program parameters. In addition, you can launch and play the games you need directly from the CS Scanner program.

You can also find a server for the browser. Open "Internet Explorer" with the mouse. Go to the menu with the name "Service", and then of course in the "Internet Options". Select "Connection". Click the LAN Settings button. Usually the required proxy addresses with the port number are written there. Write them down or memorize them as you will need them later. In item "FF" go to "Tools". Then select "Settings" and "Advanced". In the "Network" tab, click the "Configure" button. Go to the tab "Configure connection settings manually" Enter the proxy address and port there. The server will be found and will start working.
