Most often, the work of a local network is organized through a single remote server. Such a server can also play the role of a general information server, updates, or perform other network functions. The connection to it is established when the computer is connected to the network, but the user himself can configure the connection.
Instructions
Step 1
To return the remote server, that is, restore the lost network settings, ask the network administrator for the server settings. This should be, first of all, the IP address of the server, as well as the range of addresses that determines the boundaries of the server's availability. Remember the parameters, or better yet, write them down, since an error, even a small one, will lead to failure and you will have to bother the administrator again.
Step 2
To connect your computer to the network, plug the LAN cable into the network card. Wait a bit until authentication passes and the connection is initialized. Open the network settings window by going to the "Start" menu and selecting "Network Connections". Right-click on the connection icon and select "Properties".
Step 3
You need TCP / IP network protocol settings. Put there the range of addresses that the network administrator told you earlier. For example, the server IP is 10.40.30.2. Then your range will be like this - 10.40.30., And the IP, for example, like this - 10.40.30.24.
Step 4
Open the "Network Neighborhood" window. This can be done from the control panel, which is located in the main menu of the Windows series OS. Click on the item "Show computers in the workgroup". When you see the server in the list of computers on the network, double-click on its icon and enter the password and login to resume the connection.
Step 5
If you have a Windows 7 operating system installed on your computer, the network settings will take place in a different scenario. Although, in fact, the differences are only in the fact that some network settings are located in different sections. So, you can find your network connection in the "Network and Sharing Center", the section of the TCP / IP network protocol - in the connection properties. Then it remains to check all the settings, before that, do not forget to reboot.
