Instructions

Step 1

There are several ways to subdivide a local area network. The easiest one is to simply change the IP addresses of the required computers and the subnet mask. Open the network adapter settings. Find the item "TCP / IPv4 Protocol" and go to its properties. You will see an IP address, say 100.100.100.8. and the subnet mask 255.0.0.0.

Step 2

Change the IP address to any other, for example: 210.50.150.8. The subnet mask will automatically change to 255.255.255.0. Repeat this operation for the rest of the computers that you want to separate from the local network and join into a new one. Please note that when entering a new IP address, the first three segments must be the same on all computers.

Step 3

If you want to completely exclude the possibility of exchanging information between computers of two different local networks, then purchase a switch. Connect to it all computers that you plan to separate from the old network. At the same time, disconnect the above devices from the old switch or switch. As a result, you get two independent local area networks. The IP addresses of computers can be left as they are. it will not damage the network.
