In many companies, firms and even homes, the use of local networks has long been practiced. It is very convenient and economical. But there are situations when it is required to create a separate group of users united in a different local network. At the same time, it is absolutely not necessary to completely change the network architecture.
It is necessary
Switch or router
There are several ways to subdivide a local area network. The easiest one is to simply change the IP addresses of the required computers and the subnet mask. Open the network adapter settings. Find the item "TCP / IPv4 Protocol" and go to its properties. You will see an IP address, say 100.100.100.8. and the subnet mask 255.0.0.0.
Change the IP address to any other, for example: 126.96.36.199. The subnet mask will automatically change to 255.255.255.0. Repeat this operation for the rest of the computers that you want to separate from the local network and join into a new one. Please note that when entering a new IP address, the first three segments must be the same on all computers.
If you want to completely exclude the possibility of exchanging information between computers of two different local networks, then purchase a switch. Connect to it all computers that you plan to separate from the old network. At the same time, disconnect the above devices from the old switch or switch. As a result, you get two independent local area networks. The IP addresses of computers can be left as they are. it will not damage the network.
