Sometimes, to increase the bandwidth, it is enough to optimize the Windows settings. In particular, you can reduce the amount of bandwidth allocated by the operating system to the reserve. Reservations are made by the Package Manager of the Group Policy snap-in.
It is necessary
- - computer with Windows XP system;
- - Group Policy Editor.
Instructions
Step 1
Start the Group Policy Editor (Start-Run-gpedit.msc). In the snap-in that appears, select the Computer Configuration node, then expand the Administrative Templates node. In the Network node, find the QoS Package Manager object.
Step 2
In the right window of the object, open the "Limit the reserved bandwidth" property. This policy is not set by default. In this case, the system reserves 20% of the connection bandwidth.
Step 3
On the Option tab, select Enabled. Set the bandwidth limit to 0%. Click the Apply button, then OK. If you set bandwidth limits for a specific network adapter in the registry, Group Policy is ignored when configuring the adapter.
Step 4
Analyze the reasons for the congestion of the Internet channel. Highlight the persistent traffic that various multimedia applications use for real-time operation. Typically, this traffic has minimal value. Limit its use.
Step 5
Contact your internet provider and upgrade to a new tariff plan that uses a higher bandwidth channel.
