Step 1
To create a home wireless access point with Internet access, you need a Wi-Fi router (router). There is a huge amount of such equipment on the market for computer products. But you need to learn how to choose the right router that is right for you.
Step 2
Examine the specifications of your laptop. Find out the types of wireless networks that his network adapter works with without problems. If you require a wide signal propagation area, pay attention to this parameter.
Step 3
Connect the purchased Wi-Fi router to an AC outlet. Connect an internet connection cable to it. For this, the device has an Internet (WAN) port.
Step 4
Connect the laptop to the router via the LAN (Ethernet) port. For this, a network cable is supplied with the device. Launch a browser and enter the Wi-Fi IP of the router in the address bar.
Step 5
Find the “Internet Setup” menu and open it. Change the parameter settings of this menu to those recommended by your ISP. This is necessary to provide the router with Internet access. Enable DHCP function if supported by your hardware.
Step 6
Open the Wireless Setup menu. Create and enter a name (SSID) and password (Password) to access the network. Select the types of data and radio encryption your laptop works with. Save the entered settings and reboot the Wi-Fi router. Sometimes this requires disconnecting it from the mains for a while.

Disconnect the network cable from the laptop. Open the list of available wireless networks. Connect to the Wi-Fi access point that you created in the router settings. If Internet access is not available, check the firewall and firewall settings on the laptop.
