Blocking by firewall
The most common reason why skype does not work is blocking by a firewall. This program is designed to control applications that need access to the network. When such an application is launched for the first time, the firewall either blocks it automatically, if provided by the settings, or asks the user whether to allow the program to access the Internet or not. Blocking by an antivirus program

To make Skype work, disable this feature. If not, disable the antivirus itself.

Lack of network
The next reason is the lack of access to the network. You can check this by going to any web resource through a browser. If the page does not open, then there is definitely no Internet access. There are two possible reasons for this. The first and most harmless is an unpaid balance, the second is a router malfunction.
The balance can be checked in the personal account of your provider. All the necessary information for entering your personal account is indicated in the contract.
With zero balance, most providers provide the five-day promised payment.
To identify the second problem, a small amount of manipulation should be performed. First, evaluate the performance of the router itself. Then try connecting to the internet directly with a cable. Once connected, call your network operator and ask them to check the connection status. If it is active, then the reason is definitely in the router itself. You can configure it manually through the address "192.168.1.1". Or using the disk that came with the router. If it cannot be configured, then the network card most likely burned out.
Replacing a component
Another reason is the replacement of a required component. It is possible that when installing an application, the user accidentally specified the installation path to the folder with the Skype program. And during installation, the component from this application replaced the component with the same name from Skype. The result of this is an error in the work of the latter. To fix this problem, uninstall Skype and reinstall it.
