Currently, the task of collecting complete, reliable and accurate statistics on site visits by users is very acute for webmasters. Actual statistics not only make it possible to objectively assess the resource in terms of its commercial attractiveness for advertisers, but also clearly see the trends in traffic changes depending on the actions taken by the webmaster. An accurate, simple, and besides, a free statistics collection tool is offered by the Google Analytics service.

Instructions
Step 1
Register on the Google Analytics website. Open the address https://www.google.com/analytics/ in your browser and click on the link with the text "Sign Up Now" located on the page. Then follow the link "Create an account now"
A page with a form for registering a new Google Analytics account will open. In the drop-down list located in the upper right corner, select your preferred interface language. Enter your email address, password, and password confirmation into the form. Go through the registration procedure.
Step 2
Log in to the administrative panel of the Google Analytics service using the details of the created account. Go to the page with the address https://www.google.com/analytics/, click on the "Access Analytics" button. Turn on the display of the system interface in Russian by expanding the "Change language" drop-down list, and then selecting the "Russian" item in it. In the "Email" and "Password" fields of the form on the right side of the page, enter the appropriate values for your account credentials. Click the "Login" button
Step 3
Add the website profile on which statistics collection is to be installed to your Google Analytics account. Open the address in the browser https://www.google.com/analytics/settings/home. Click on the Add Website Profile link. On the page that opens, select the "Add a profile for a new domain" option. Select the protocol for accessing the site from the drop-down list and enter the site's domain name in the text field located below the "Enter the URL of the site you want to track". Click the Finish button
Step 4
Install Google Analytics. Get your tracking code. Copy the JavaScript snippet that is contained in the text box on the page opened after adding the website profile. Save it to a text file. The open page also contains instructions for installing the code on the site. Check them out.
Place the code on all pages of the site, the statistics of visits to which you want to track. Use the capabilities of the CMS to edit page templates, if any. Alternatively, copy the site template or theme files to your hard drive and open them in a text editor. Find the ending tag of the HEAD element. Place the Google Analytics tracking code in front of this tag. Save your changes. Upload the corrected files to the server if required.
Click the Save and Finish button at the bottom of the Google Analytics page.
Step 5
Wait until the collection of statistics begins. Go to the site profiles page. An icon in the form of a green checkmark should appear in the "Status" column of the profile list. After that, the statistics will start to be displayed for several hours.
