In order to host the site you need on the network, it is not enough just to pay for hosting services and purchase a beautiful domain name. Your domain still needs to be configured and set the necessary parameters so that the site you are hosting can be correctly displayed at the specified address. Our step-by-step instructions will help you figure out how to set up a domain and what settings you need to specify.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose a provider and pay for hosting. Now you have access to the admin panel, where we will carry out all the settings we need.
Step 2
Examine the meaning of abbreviations like DNS, A, CNAME, NS, MX. The first abbreviation will hide the name of your site, which users will write in the address bar of their browsers as a set of characters. However, for recognition by machines, a numerical value, the so-called IP, is used as a response to an access request, each of which hides the real address and place on the network. Computers convert alphabetic names into numeric ones and thus facilitate each other's access to the server with the site.
Step 3
Configure in the admin panel a connection between the site name and a specific domain IP (assigned to you by the provider when purchasing hosting services). So machines will easily find the server with the site and make requests to it. The type A abbreviation in the domain settings panel denotes the same IP. When changing your hosting provider, remember to change the IP, your "ownership" will also "move" to another server machine.
Step 4
Create subdomains using the CNAME (Canonical Name Record) acronym settings. Enter the domain name and subdomain name, separating it with a period, or add the name of the latter without using the hostname and period.
Step 5
Configure the server name - NS abbreviation. It is better not to change anything in the settings of this parameter, although if you accidentally get these numbers lost, contact the user support service, and they will tell you how to solve the problem.
Step 6
Set up your website mail. Abbreviation MX. Here, take into account the location of the mailbox that you will use. Either arrange for the delivery of correspondence to an existing email, or create a new one with a link to the domain name of your site, using the server of the hosting provider, and therefore their instructions for setting up.
Step 7
For all questions about working with a domain hosted on the hosting, please contact the support service. Do not change data in parameters you are not familiar with.
