Step 1
There are many programs that allow you to create your own ftp server on your computer. GuildFTPd is one of them. Download it and install it. The installation is quite simple and does not take a lot of time and knowledge. The main effort will be needed when setting up. To go to the settings panel at the top, go to GuildFTPd optons, where you will see several category tabs. The General category contains basic settings for the number of connections, port numbers, etc. Make the necessary settings and move on to the next category.
Step 2
Go to the Server tab, where enter the name of the future ftp server, also do not forget to decrease the value of the Log Level slider by moving the slider to the left, otherwise the volume occupied by the server will increase rapidly. After that, you need to choose a method for creating a server. The GuildFTPd system is such that the user of the future server must be assigned to certain groups, on the basis of which one type of server will be created out of two possible ones: - a server based on personal accounts; - a server based on the entry into the required directory.
Step 3
The first type of server is suitable if you are organizing a file server for friends, while for each user you can create your own file system. To do this, create a group, name it, and share the root directory. (Click on the Add button and go to the Edit Path section). After that, create a user base by following this path Admin - Add User, where you need to enter the logins and passwords of future users of the server.
Step 4
After creating this database, organize a virtual file system for each user, if necessary. To do this, go through the Add - Edit Path again and specify the files and folders that will be available for a specific login. The second way to create a file server is much easier. To do this, create only one user and enter anonymous in the name field. Also, don't forget to uncheck the list value. Then add the required file directories.
