The firewall built into the Windows operating system often blocks incoming connections for the uTorrent torrent client, which does not allow downloading the necessary files using the program. To unblock the port, you need to enter a rule for the application that denies access so that it does not close the connection for uTorrent.

Instructions

Step 1

First you need to go to uTorrent itself to check the blocking of incoming connections. Open the program window by launching it through a shortcut on the desktop or the "Start" menu. If uTorrent is already running, expand its window from the Windows tray, which is located on the right side of the bottom "Start" panel, by double-clicking on the application shortcut.

Step 2

In the window that appears, pay attention to the bottom panel of the program. At the bottom right of the window, an icon should be displayed that shows the status of the current connection. If this icon is displayed in the form of a check mark, it means that the ports are open and the inability to download a particular file is not due to the connection, but to the operability of the downloaded files or problems with the program itself. If the icon is yellow or red, then the connection is blocked.

Step 3

Click on the connection icon and click on the "Test Port" button. If the message You will not be able to receive incoming connections is displayed in the window that appears, then it is the firewall that is blocking the required port.

Step 4

To fix this, go to Start - Control Panel - System and Security - Windows Firewall. In the left part of the window, click on the link "Allow the program to run through a firewall".

Step 5

In the list of applications that appears, check the box next to all items that include the word uTorrent, namely uTorrent TCP-In and uTorrent UDP-In. To apply the changes, click "OK" and close the "Control Panel".

Step 6

Restart uTorrent by clicking on the "File" - "Exit" menu and confirming the operation. Run the program again and repeat the connection test. If the opening of the port was successful, you will see a corresponding message. If the network connection is functioning correctly, you will see a green icon in the application notification area. The uTorrent port is now open and you can start downloading the files you want.
