When developing a web design, a specialist must correctly maintain a balance between his own vision of solving a problem, the customer's requirements and the interests of the target audience of the site. Only the compliance of the design made with the interests of users can bring success to the project.
The whole essence of the site, that is, its thematic focus, content (not to mention the color scheme) - it all depends on what target users the project will have. Even before the creation of the site, it is important to resolve this issue with the customer, because the course of further work depends on the answer to it.
Defining your target audience is pretty straightforward. First, you need to highlight the main categories of users who can benefit from this site. Moreover, they should be distinguished according to different indicators: age, gender, professional, level of knowledge of computers and the Internet, etc. Secondly, it is necessary to determine the purpose of visiting this site. And thirdly, the subject of the project and, accordingly, the user groups interested in this information should be taken into account.
Typically, site visitors can be classified into three main groups.
The first group is represented by people who use old computer equipment. They prefer simple, easy-to-load sites that aren't overwhelmed with animations or images. They are most comfortable with text design with a small proportion of graphics.
The second group includes the bulk of users. As a rule, these people have good enough computer equipment that allows them to browse more complex websites. However, they are more interested in the internal content of the pages than in their design. Therefore, for this category of users, it is worth making simple and convenient sites that are not overloaded with unnecessary animation and graphics. The classic design of such a site is a web page with a columnar structure. And also with the obligatory presence of a "cap" with the name of the organization.
The third group is people who actively interact with the computer sphere. They make up no more than 5% of all users. They have the latest computer software, they feel confident on the Internet, they quickly and well perceive information, moreover, submitted in various forms (text, audio, video, images, etc.). This category of users, no doubt, will pay attention to the design of the site, ease of use, original solutions.
But there are situations when it is difficult to identify specific target audience groups. In this case, it is better to make a website with a neutral design. Not complicated, but not too simple, not bright, in tones pleasing to the eye. It is worth considering that users can be any age group, people of both women and men, people of different professions, with different levels of education and with different installed computer equipment.
