Terraria, like many other sandboxes, is very popular nowadays. Despite the rather simple graphics and two-dimensionality, it is interesting to its fans for many different locations, a certain variability of game missions and a variety of resources to be mined. Truly unique materials can be found on the so-called floating islands.

Where are the flying islands

Floating, or flying, islands - the location is very interesting. Here, the player's task of extracting resources becomes more difficult, since he has new enemies - a harpy and a wyvern (the latter is present only when switching to hardmod). However, even a hypothetical opportunity to meet with them scares not all gamers - if only because the reward in case of victory can be really worthwhile.

On the flying island, the player will find those resources that will not be found in any of the other places. For example, a happy horseshoe that removes damage from falls, a red ball that increases the height of jumping, a sword "star fury", which inflicts increased damage on the enemy due to the use of heavenly bodies, etc. Such wealth is sometimes found in chests in such locations. The only problem is that you still need to get there.

So that the gamer does not wander aimlessly around the game space in search of a flying island, it is important for him to know where it is possible to find this cluster of blocks floating above the ground (the main ones are cloudy). On a small map, the most likely altitude to spot him is 453 feet, on a medium map, about 650, and on a large map, about 818.

Floating Islands Detection Methods

For orientation in space, the player will not hurt to use a depth gauge or GPS. The first one allows you to see the height of the player - in feet. It requires four gold, eight silver, and ten copper ingots to craft. Sometimes you can get this accessory ready-made - if it is dropped from bats. GPS shows not only the depth / height of the player, but also the distance from the point of his spawn. It can be made only in the workshop of the inventor and from rather expensive items - a depth gauge, a compass and a gold watch.

However, the aforementioned devices will only allow you to determine the coordinates in which the gamer's character is, and in the search for flying islands, their help will be only relative. A slightly more accurate method in this regard would be a shot into the air above oneself. In this case, it is better to be in the forest biome, since it is above it that floating islands are most often located.

For shooting, a water shot (a magical weapon found exclusively in a dungeon on bookshelves) or a meteorite bullet are suitable. The latter can be crafted on an anvil (made of lead or iron), and for its production requires a meteorite ingot and 25 musket bullets. If, after firing up any of these cartridges, they ricochet, then there is definitely something above the player. It is quite possible that there will be flying islands.

Meanwhile, at the initial stage of the gameplay, there are usually no resources for making such ammunition in the inventory. Therefore, it is worth using a simpler weapon - a blow gun or a space gun. Having shot them up, you need to listen to the sound. If it seemed that the bullets hit the ground or into the liana, it will almost certainly mean that a hovering island is hovering over the gamer.

Another method of finding them is suitable only if the player already has a gravity potion in his arsenal. It is made at an alchemical station from dead grass, fireflower, feather, shimmering root and, of course, a bottle of water. This drug must be drunk and just soar at the desired height, looking for flying islands. It is only important to do this promptly, since the potion lasts only three minutes.
