Creating and deleting one or more local group policy objects is a standard procedure for a computer administrator. Therefore, this task is solved by the standard means of the system itself, without requiring the involvement of additional third-party programs.
Instructions
Step 1
Log on to the system with the account used during the installation of Windows OC to initiate the procedure for deleting the selected GPO and open the main system menu by clicking the "Start" button. Type mmc in the search bar text box and confirm starting the control console by pressing the Enter function key.
Step 2
Expand the "Console" menu of the upper service panel of the application window and select the "Add or remove snap-in" item. An alternative method is to simultaneously press the Ctrl and M keys. Select the Group Policy Object Editor snap-in in the dialog box that opens and confirm the addition by clicking the Add button.
Step 3
Use the Browse button in the new editor dialog to define the GPO to delete and select the Users tab of the next search dialog.
Step 4
Call the context menu of the found object by clicking the right mouse button and select the "Delete Group Policy Object" item. Confirm the execution of the selected action in the system request window that opens by clicking the OK button.
Step 5
Use the same procedure when deleting the Group Policy of the selected domain, site, or OP. To do this, open the properties dialog box of the desired site and use the Group Policy tab. Specify the object to be deleted and click the "Delete" button.
Step 6
Apply the checkbox to the field "Remove a policy from the list without deleting an object" in the delete dialog so that the cleanup does not affect other containers, but only the link is deleted (provided that the selected object is linked). Check the box next to "Remove link and permanently delete the GPO" to completely remove the policy itself, the link, and the GPO container (assuming the selected object is linked).
