There are situations when you need to find out from which IP address you received an email. This information is not secret, and in order to find it, you do not have to be a computer genius.
Instructions
Step 1
Using the full version of the web interface, go to your mailbox and open the message whose sender's IP address you want to find out.
Step 2
If you use Yandex e-mail, click the "Advanced" item, then the "Mail properties" option. If your email account is registered on the Mail. Ru mail server, at the bottom of the page, click on the "More" menu, and then on the "Service headers" option. If you are logged in through the Gmail web interface, press the Down Arrow key to the right of the Reply button, then select the Show Original option. In other postal services, find the corresponding item yourself, as a rule, there are no problems with this.
Step 3
After that, you will see a long text in which find the line: Received: from domainn.ame (domainn.ame [nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn]), where nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn is the IP address of the sender of this message.
Step 4
If there are several such lines, look at the first of them for the sender's IP address. The only exception is if it contains a local address, for example, starting with 192.168. Then the real IP-address will be the one in the second such line.
Step 5
Rewrite the address or copy it into a notebook on your computer desktop, and only then exit the e-mail box.
Step 6
If the message you received contains threats, inform the sender's IP address to the "K" department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. But, nevertheless, do not forget that it may have been sent through an anonymous proxy server or through someone else's computer, the owner of which does not even suspect that his equipment is infected with a computer virus.
Step 7
Do not under any circumstances disclose the information you received about the IP address of the sender of the email, and also do not use it to carry out destructive actions of any kind.
