When working on the Internet, the user may need to prohibit the download of certain files - for example, for security reasons or to limit traffic consumption. This can be done both by standard means of some browsers, and using special programs.
Instructions
Step 1
The most convenient way is to restrict file uploads in the Opera browser. To do this, open: "Service" - "General settings" - "Advanced" - "Content" - "Blocked content" and add the file extensions that you want to block. For example, *.exe for executable files, *.avi for video files, etc. All files with the specified extensions will be blocked when trying to download them.
Step 2
To prevent downloading files in Internet Explorer, open "Tools" - "Internet Options" - "Security". In the "Select a zone to configure its security settings" window, select the "Internet" item and click the "Other …" button. In the "Security Settings - Internet Zone" window, find the "Settings" list, and in it the "Download" group. In this group, for File Download, select Disable and save your changes with OK.
Step 3
It is possible to set a ban on downloading files directly in the system registry. To do this, type regedit in the command line, then in the window of the editor that starts, open the registry branch: HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Internet Settings / Zones / 3.
Step 4
In the right part of the window, find the line "1803", right-click on it and select "Change" from the context menu. A small window will open in which you can change the parameter value from 0 to 3. Save the changes. After that, IE will not be able to download any files from the Internet. This method is quite radical, but in some cases it can be useful.
Step 5
If several people work on the computer and it is necessary to completely control their traffic, including downloading files, it is best to install a proxy server on the computer with Internet access by login and password. In the proxy server settings, you can also specify the rules for prohibiting downloading certain files.
