There is an opinion that the mobile Internet is significantly less profitable than the wired one. In most cases, this is true. But there are a number of ways to significantly reduce the cost of using the mobile Internet.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure you are not using an access point (APN) dedicated to WAP. Data transfer through such an access point is charged significantly more expensive (sometimes up to a hundred times) than through an access point designed for the mobile Internet. Call the support service of your operator and consult how to reconfigure your phone, or find all the necessary data for this on the operator's official website.
Step 2
Some operators provide Internet access even if the phone is not configured or configured incorrectly. However, in this case, data transmission in some cases is charged in the same way as if it were carried out via a WAP access point. In such a situation, you should properly configure your phone, guided by the recommendations outlined in the previous step.
Step 3
Install a browser with data compression function on your phone through an external proxy server. There are four such browsers: Opera Mini, Opera Mobile, UCWEB, and Bolt.
Step 4
If you use a Jabber client on your phone and use the services of a server that supports Zlib compression, enable the corresponding function in your client. This is done in different ways, depending on which client you are using. The traffic volume will drop several times.
Step 5
Regardless of whether you use a built-in browser on your phone or a third-party browser, you can significantly reduce the amount of received data by turning off the display of images in the settings.
Step 6
Find out about discounts and promotions provided by the operator. Many of them allow you to purchase traffic "in bulk", while the cost of one megabyte turns out to be lower than when purchasing traffic "at retail". However, it should be remembered that unspent megabytes usually "burn up" at the end of the month. Some operators have a tariff option, when activated, only a few megabytes of consumed traffic per day is charged, and all subsequent transmitted and received data are not charged until the end of the day. Finally, the most profitable of the options is the connection of an unlimited tariff, in which only a relatively modest monthly subscription fee is paid, and the data transfer itself is not charged at all. In this case, a certain amount of traffic is provided at an increased speed, and then it decreases. Operators provide this service in an increasing number of cities.
Step 7
When visiting some sites, traffic is charged by operators at higher rates, even if you are served at an unlimited rate. Check the operator's website for a list of such sites and do not visit them.
