File sharing has become quite common. Users no longer think about how to send a photo, a small book, or a couple of musical recordings. Some problems occur when transferring files that are larger than the attachment size. But you can even transfer the contents of an entire DVD from computer to computer.
It is necessary
- - registration on the mail server;
- - registration on a file hosting service;
- - Total Commander.
Instructions
Step 1
Find out the size of the attachment for your mailbox and for the one that your recipient uses. Typically, it is 20-30 megabytes. In any case, the file you want to send must be slightly smaller than the maximum allowed. Transcoding occurs during transmission. Therefore, it is very useful to have a margin of about 1/3 of the volume.
Step 2
If your attachment is 30 MB or slightly larger, the file can be split into 2-3 parts. The division method depends on what exactly you want to send. If it is a folder with many small files (such as a music disc or photo album), create multiple folders. Copy the contents of the album there so that the volumes of all folders are approximately equal.
Step 3
Zip each folder. This can be done using Total Commander or another similar program. There is, for example, a free analogue of FreeCommander with almost the same functions. It also has a built-in archiver. Highlight a folder or group of files. In the main menu, find the "File" tab, and in it - the "Pack" function. The program will prompt you to select a directory. Do this and click OK. Zip other folders in the same way. You can also use another archiver - for example, 7zip.
Step 4
If you want to upload one large file, you need to split it using the same file manager. In the "File" tab there is a "Split" function. Highlight the file, then exit this menu and specify the directory. Please forward each part in a separate letter. For not very large files (up to 100 megabytes), this is quite a convenient way, since there will not be very many letters.
Step 5
Use a file hosting service. They are available on many mail servers and are intended for just such cases. For example, Yandex and Google have their own file hosting services, but you can use any other one. For not very large files, the once very popular and still valid Ifolder is suitable. The most widespread is RapidShare, Megaupload, DepositFiles, Hotfile are very convenient. Some require registration, others accept files from all users. Upload the file to the exchanger and send the link to your addressee by mail or via social networks.
