Joomla is a popular site management system (CMS). It allows you to create resources of varying complexity and can be used to quickly launch the site and fill it with content. Installation and configuration of Joomla is automated, however, to perform the installation, the system must first be uploaded to the hosting.
Instructions
Step 1
Download the Joomla version 1.5 distribution from the official site of the CMS developer. Wait for the download to finish.
Step 2
Upload the received file to your hosting using the FTP manager or through the site control panel. To download through the panel, you just need to go to the administration section of your resource on the hosting of your choice and select the file management section. Unpack the downloaded archive to the root directory of your site using the appropriate option or FTP client functions.
Step 3
Use the site administration panel or the phpMyAdmin utility to create a MySQL database to use Joomla. To do this, use the appropriate item on your control panel or contact your hosting provider who will help you create the desired item.
Step 4
After creating the MySQL database and unpacking Joomla, enter the address of your resource in the browser address bar. On the page that appears, select the language that you would like to use when installing and working with the site. Click "Next" in the upper right corner of the window.
Step 5
You will see the hosting requirements for Joomla. If the page does not show any errors, click Next. If the installation fails, contact your hosting provider to fix the listed problems.
Step 6
Read the user agreement and click "Next". On the new page, specify the parameters for connecting to MySQL - specify the server name, username, password and name of the created database. The server name, username and password are provided by the hosting provider when the account is created. The last field contains the name that you gave the database for Joomla.
Step 7
On the following pages, configure FTP settings as needed, and enter configuration settings to access the resource admin panel. If all the data is correct, the installation of the Joomla files will begin, at the end of which you will be given a corresponding notification.
