Instructions
Step 1
Choose a method of connecting two computers into a single network. The easiest and cheapest option is to use a twisted pair cable. Purchase a network cable and connect it to the network adapters of both computers. Turn on these devices and wait for the automatic detection of the new network to complete.
Step 2
Set the permanent IP addresses for the network cards used. This will allow you to quickly find the desired computer on the network. Open the control panel and go to the "Network Connections" menu. Find the icon of the required network card and go to its properties. Highlight TCP / IP Internet Protocol. Click the Properties button.
Step 3
Highlight the Use the following IP address option. Enter the value of the static IP address for this network card in the first field of the menu that opens. Save the changes by clicking the "Apply" button. Follow the same procedure to configure the network adapter of another computer. Change the last segment of the IP address.
Step 4
Now configure the sharing options for each computer. Disable Windows Firewall. This will make it easier for you to set up your PC. This method is not recommended for active Internet users. Open the Start menu and go to Run.
Step 5
In the field that appears, enter Firewall.cpl and press the Enter key. Go to the "General" tab of the menu that opens. Check the box next to Disable (not recommended). Click OK to save your changes.
Step 6
Disable additional firewall software, if installed on your computer. Check your antivirus firewall settings. Add your intranet to the exceptions to allow seamless communication between computers. Follow the steps outlined to set up a second computer.
