Many bloggers want their diary to look aesthetically pleasing in addition to an interesting context. You want to visit a beautiful blog more often, make notes and comment on your friends. In order to make your online diary a truly cozy place, you need to choose a color scheme and insert a background image.

Step 1
Choose a suitable picture. There are two good options: either your picture matches the desktop wallpaper, or you put a small "seamless" picture that is repeated many times in the background of your blog. In the first case, it is better to look for a picture on sites with desktop wallpapers, and in the second - on specialized sites with backgrounds for blogs.
Step 2
After you have saved the picture that you plan to use as a background on your computer, upload it to a free photo hosting site (for example, radikal.ru, gallery.ru). Please note that the system can automatically reduce the size of the picture, and if necessary, uncheck this option. After the picture is uploaded, copy the link to it. If you are not going to start creating your blog design immediately, it is better to save it in a word document.
Step 3
The system for setting the background on each blog server has its own characteristics. In order to set the background in LJ, go to your profile and follow the links "Journal" -> "Design". In the window that opens, select the Custom options tab and find the Images item. It is there in the Background image column that you should copy the link to the background. If the picture is small and you want it to be repeated many times in the background of the blog, in the Background image repeat item, select repeat. Then save your changes.
Step 4
If you use the site diary.ru, to set the background in the diary you need to go to "Settings", and then in the column "Diary settings" select "Diary design". In the skins library, click Add New Skins, and then click Edit. In the window that opens, select the "Background image" tab, use the "Select file" button to find the image on your computer and save the changes you have made. The background will now appear on your page.
