Djvu format is one of the most popular. It can be compared to Pdf, since books are also stored in this format, but, unfortunately, special software is required to open such files, which is not so much.
Djvu files are books that can also be stored in Pdf format. To open the second, you will need a program that is on almost every computer (Adobe Reader), but Djvu will need a different software, it can be found on the Internet.
There are two most popular programs for reading Djvu files, they are WinDjView and DjVuReader. They are practically indistinguishable from each other. The thing is that they are narrowly focused, that is, they are made specifically so that you can view files in the Djvu format. In this regard, it turns out that they simply do not need any additional or extended functionality, since they fully fulfill their task.
DjVuReader
DjVuReader is distributed absolutely free, which means that it can be easily found on the net. It has everything you need and is quite easy to operate and configure. To start the file, you need to open DjVuReader, select "File" from the menu located at the top and select the book you want to open. This software has one very interesting feature - the choice of the display mode of the document.
With it, you can either simulate reading a real book, or switch to single page mode (something similar is used in Microsoft Office Word). The user can set bookmarks in a certain place so as not to lose it. It should be noted that, unlike its competitor, DjVuReader does not require installation and the user can immediately start reading books in the DjVu format.
WinDjView
As for the WinDjView program, it is also distributed free of charge. The interface and functionality of this software practically does not differ from the previous version. Here you can also set bookmarks, view various documents in DjVu format, with the ability to view pictures.
In addition, you can set automatic page turning. To do this, a certain time interval is indicated in the program settings, after which the page will be flipped without user intervention. On the basis of the same program, another one was made - MacDjView, which can work under the operating system Mac OS X. It has the same functions and settings as WinDjView, which means it will suit all owners of such an OS.
