In OS versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7, the developers have added the User Account Control (UAC) feature. Its task is to improve the reliability of the system by prohibiting inexperienced users from performing potentially dangerous actions.
Instructions
Step 1
If Windows Vista is installed on your computer, call the "Open" line by pressing Win + R or by checking the "Run" option of the "Start" menu. Write the msconfig command on the line and confirm with OK. The System Configuration window opens. Go to the "Service" tab and check the "Enable UAC control" item. To initiate the process, click "Start", then restart your computer.
Step 2
Another method can be applied. Go to the "Control Panel" and expand the "User Accounts" node. Click on the link "Enabling or disabling control …". Put a flag in the checkbox next to the item "Use User Account Control …" and confirm by clicking OK. Restart your computer.
Step 3
UAC is also enabled through the registry. Open the program launch window by pressing Win + R or by using the "Run" option of the "Start" menu. On the regedit line, locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem hive in the Registry Editor.
Step 4
Expand the System folder and select the EnableLUA parameter with the cursor on the right side of the screen. From the Edit menu, select the Modify option and enter 1 in the Value field. Confirm the changes by clicking OK. Restart your computer to complete the process.
Step 5
You can change the parameter value in another way. Right-click on it to open the context menu and select the "Change" option.
Step 6
If your computer is running Windows 7, click Start and type UAC in the search bar. In the list of search results, click the link "Changing User Account Control Settings …" The system will open the User Account Control Settings window.
Step 7
By changing the position of the slider for setting up notifications, set the required, from your point of view, protection level. In the lowest position, the control will be disabled. At the extreme top, the system will require confirmation of any action. Click OK to confirm your changes, then restart your computer.
