Setting a ban on a site can be done by editing a special hosts document, which is located in the Windows system directory. It is responsible for blocking access to certain resources and can be changed by the administrator of the computer or local network.

Step 1
The hosts file is located in the Windows system directory, which can be accessed under the computer's administrator account. Click on the "Start" menu of the system, and then go to the "Computer" section. From the list of installed storage media, select the system drive C. Navigate to the Windows - System32 - Drivers - etc folder to access the hosts.

This document will be displayed in the appropriate folder. To open it, right-click on it and select the "Open with" section. In the proposed list of programs, select "Notepad" and click "OK", after which you will open the contents of the document.

If the hosts file is not displayed in the directory, you will need to configure the display of hidden files. Open the menu "Tools" - "Folder Options" of the top panel of "Explorer". If this menu is not available, click on the alt="Image" button to activate it. In the window that appears, go to the "View" tab, where in the "Hidden files and folders" section, select the "Show hidden documents" option. Click "Ok". After completing the operation, if necessary, refresh the page by right-clicking in the folder window and selecting "Refresh". After that, the hosts file will become available.

The contents of this document will be displayed in the Notepad window. In the file comments after the pound signs, you will see an example of making changes to the document. Thus, to deny access to a specific resource, enter text like:

In this case, 127.0.0.1 is the local network address. It is a pointer to the fact that you need to deny access to a specific resource from this particular computer. The "site_address" parameter is responsible for the address of the resource to which you want to deny access (without http). For example, if you want to make the Google site unavailable, enter the following query:
127.0.0.1 google.com
Step 6
Each site that you want to block must be entered in a new line of the file. After specifying the necessary data, click "File" - "Save" to save the changes. You can close the editor window. Access to the site on the computer has been denied.
