The procedure for creating a domain controller based on Windows Server 2003 is performed using Active Directory and does not involve additional software.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the main system menu by clicking the "Start" button, and go to the "Run" dialog. Type dcpromo / adv on the Open line and confirm running the Active Directory Installation Wizard by clicking OK. Read the information on the compatibility of operating systems in the dialog box that opens and click the "Next" button.
Step 2
Select the Add Domain Controller option in the new Domain Controller Type dialog box and confirm your choice by clicking Next. Apply the check box in the required field in the following dialog box of the Copy Domain Data wizard:
- through the network;
- using the restored archive files (You will need to specify the full path to the saved archive files using the "Browse" button).
Confirm the execution of the selected action by clicking the "Next" button.
Step 3
Type the account name, password, and domain name of the user in the corresponding lines of the next Network Credentials dialog box and save the changes by clicking the Next button. Please note that the account you use must be in the Domain Admins group.
Step 4
Specify the installation location for the selected databases and their logs in the next dialog box of the wizard and confirm your choice by clicking Next. Select the desired location for the Sysvol folder using the Browse button in the Share System Volume window and confirm your choice by clicking Next.
Step 5
Type the desired password value for the server administrator account in the corresponding field of the Administrator Password for Recovery Mode dialog box and save your change by clicking Next. Make sure that the entered information is displayed correctly in the final "Summary" window and confirm the selected actions by clicking the "Next" button. Reboot the system to apply the changes.
