There are several ways to remove a banner from the browser. Quite often, the reason for the appearance of a banner is that the browser has not been updated for a long time, and, accordingly, its outdated technologies cannot cope with banners and other advertisements. Sometimes a virus or other malicious software is also the cause.
Instructions
Step 1
A fairly common reason for the appearance of a banner may be an outdated browser. Typically, this is the standard Internet Explorer included with Windows XP. The fact is that quite a few sites post ads in the form of banners (although the source is other sites). Such a context is mostly blocked by modern browsers, but outdated versions do not cope, even if they should be properly configured. Therefore, the most correct way in such a situation would be: installing a modern browser. Moreover, it is advisable to install a browser like Mozilla Firefox, Opera or Google Chrome, since Internet Explorer, even updated, often does not cope in this regard. After installation, you need to go to the settings and select the "block pop-up windows" option.
Step 2
When standard tools do not help, and the banner is an advertisement of the site itself, i.e. there are not just links to other people's portals, but the site is the source of advertising, then such a context must be blocked using special applications. For the Mozilla Firefox browser, there is an Adblock Plus application (you can download it from the link https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/addon/adblock-plus). For the rest, there are also similar blockers
Step 3
Sometimes a banner is caused by a virus or other malicious software. In this case, of course, no amount of blocking or setting the browser will help. When something like this appears, it should be noted that, most likely, you have ineffective protection installed. Therefore, in order to get rid of the banner, you first need to check the system for viruses, and with an effective antivirus. Paid Kaspersky Internet Security or free CureIt are suitable for this purpose.
Step 4
If this does not solve the problem, then you need to go to the address: Disk with the installed operating system - Windows - System32 - Drivers - Etc. There is a file called "hosts". You need to open it with a notepad and watch the contents. The file should not contain anything other than - 127.0.0.1 localhost. If you notice anything else, you should erase and then save the file. Then restart your computer. Then the banner should disappear.
