In the Internet messenger ICQ, the history of correspondence with contacts is stored in the "Message history" section. For security reasons and to conserve hard disk space, the history section should be cleaned periodically.

Step 1
The process of deleting a conversation may differ depending on the particular version of ICQ. Try to launch the program, press "Menu", then "Contacts" and "Message history". Here you can select individual elements of the story with the mouse or press the combination Ctrl + alt="Image" to select the entire correspondence. Then press Del to complete the deletion procedure.
Step 2
Try another way. Go to one of the contacts in the list, right-click on it and select "Message history". In the window with the correspondence, click "Delete". To selectively delete messages, select them by pressing and holding the Ctrl key, and then click Del on the keyboard.
Step 3
Look to which folder the ICQ program was installed on your computer. It is in it that you need to look for the saved history, which is usually located in the History folder. In this case, just delete all the files it contains.
Step 4
Some versions of ICQ store history in the user's documents. Try going to the Documents and Settings folder on your hard drive and selecting the internal folder with your computer username. Then go to the Application Data folder, select the ICQ directory and delete the Messages.mdb file in it. If the Application Data folder is not displayed in the required directory, activate the mode of displaying hidden files and folders. This can be done through the "Control Panel" - "Files and Folders".
Step 5
Edit the Messages.mdb message file using Microsoft Access, which allows you to work with databases. It is important that you understand the SQL query language when doing this. From here you can delete the history by your nickname, messenger number, or the whole story. Another way is to completely remove ICQ from your computer, including the main program folder, and then reinstall it.
