The default settings for mail messages do not allow enabling advanced settings in messages with extended formatting. Microsoft Outlook stores additional information in an attachment named winmail.dat that is appended to the end of the e-mail message.

Instructions
Step 1
Download and install the specialized tool to open files with the.dat Fentun extension - THEF Attachment Extractor on your computer.
Step 2
Save the.dat file to be opened in an arbitrary folder and press the "Start" button to open the main menu of the system.
Step 3
Go to Run and enter cmd in the Open field.
Step 4
Click OK to confirm running the command line tool and enter fentun.exe winmail.dat in the text box.
Step 5
Press the softkey labeled Enter to confirm the command to extract files and specify the ones to open.
Step 6
Save the extracted files.
Step 7
Start Microsoft Outlook and open the Tools menu of the top toolbar of the application window to change the message format.
Step 8
Expand the "Options" link and click the "Message Format" button.
Step 9
Click the Plain Text button in the Create Formatted Message section and confirm your choice by clicking OK.
Step 10
Return to the "Service" menu and go to the "Address Book" item to change the parameters for sending messages to the selected recipient.

Specify the item "Personal address book" in the group "Show names from" and select the desired recipient.
Step 12
Use the Properties command from the File menu in the top toolbar of the Outlook window and go to the SMTP General tab in the dialog box that opens.

Clear the Always send messages to this recipient in Microsoft Exchange RTF format check box and click OK to apply the selected changes.
