If you want the router to only play the role of an access point, you need to know some of the features of such a point - for example, the fact that the router does not support client mode. Using a router, you get a simple access point mode that has no additional network addresses and multiple wireless clients can connect to.

Step 1
Set up a wireless connection between the computer and the router, but do not connect the router to an external network. In the next step, disable the DHCP server in the router settings - without this action you will not be able to connect the cable of the Internet provider to the router.
Step 2
After that, set up an administrator account - enter a password for the account, which will be difficult for hackers to hack.
Step 3
Now change the internal address of the router by coming up with any combination of numbers that will not match the existing network addresses and does not fall within the range of your ISP's working IP addresses. Write down the invented address and hide it in a safe place so as not to lose it.
Step 4
Insert the provider's Internet cable into one of the LAN ports of the router, and then specify your network details in the wireless card settings. If your network takes MAC address binding into account, also specify the MAC address of your card after getting it from your ISP's technical support.
Step 5
Do not forget that every time you reset the router settings, you must unplug the provider's cable. Install it back only after restoring all settings and disabling the DHCP server.
