The procedure for replacing the existing design with a new one can be implemented in several ways, the choice of which depends on how the site is managed. Step 1
Determine what methods of design change are available to you. If we are talking about an already operating site, it is most likely that some CMS system is used in its management. Most of these systems have built-in capabilities for replacing one design option - "skin" - with another directly from the administration panel. However, there are many web resources that can be edited only "manually" by changing the source code of the pages.
Step 2
If the site is running under CMS and you need to change the design of one or more pages, then do it through the "admin" - edit the appearance of the pages using the editor or changing the style sheets (CSS) and HTML-code.

To completely replace the design, create a new skin. Files with design elements in CMS are usually stored in a separate set of folders on the site server - download one of the existing skins to your computer and change it in accordance with the new design. Of course, this option requires some skill in source code and site management systems. If you are not sure of your capabilities, it is better to hire a layout specialist - usually their services are inexpensive. The newly created skin - a set of folders with files - must be uploaded back to the server, and then select a new design in the CMS administration panel.

Replacing a website design that works without using a CMS, in most cases, requires knowledge of the basics of HTML layout. If the new design exists in the form of a template (a set of HTML pages and images), you need to open these pages and change all the "default" links in them with real ones. If you need to connect an existing database to the template, you will also need knowledge of the PHP language - you need to write certain directives into the source code and replace the htm or html extensions with php. After that, it remains to upload the template to the site.
