There are several ways in which you can disconnect from the Internet. Each of them can be used regardless of the type of computer and connection. You can terminate the connection using the computer, the software with which the connection is established, or with the equipment required for the connection.
Instructions
Step 1
In case you want to terminate the connection using your computer, open the current connection. Click on the "Start" button and then go to the "Control Panel" tab. Find the "Network and Sharing Center" icon, then dislocate the current connection and click on the "disconnect" button. You can also disable it through the tray by double-clicking on the icon.
Step 2
If you are using a gprs modem, then you need to open the program with which the connection is established. Find the "disable" button and click on it. You can also disconnect the gprs modem from the computer, thereby breaking the connection to the network.
Step 3
When working on the Internet using a dial-up modem or a dedicated line, you can unplug the telephone cord from the modem, breaking the connection, or disconnecting the modem. You can do this by pressing the power off button of the modem or by unplugging its power cord. Alternatively, you can unplug the cable that connects your computer and modem.
Step 4
In order to disconnect a connection that was established using wi-fi, you can either click on the button that controls the wi-fi adapter, or use the method indicated in step number one. When using a wi-fi router and modem, you can de-energize one of these devices using step three.
Step 5
Keep in mind that the method that is the safest for your technique is to disconnect through a program that does it, or through a conductor. Other methods can harm your computer and equipment, especially if you are not disconnecting power from the equipment through the power button, but by unplugging the power cord from the outlet.
