If your computer system is clean, i.e. at the moment there is no operating system, then the Windows installation will need to be done from the MS-DOS command line. Step 1
Make sure your computer hardware is compatible with the Windows operating system. A list of compatible hardware can be found at https://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx, where you can later download the necessary drivers.
Step 2
Create a partition on the hard disk to be formatted with the FAT32 or FAT file system. If your computer does not have an MS-DOS operating system or you cannot start the command line, then you will need to make a boot floppy as well.
Step 3
Insert the Windows CD into your computer's CD drive. Boot your PC in command line mode via the Boot menu. Start SMARTDrive. To do this, at the MS-DOS prompt, type smartdrv and press enter. If you do not use this application, the installer will copy files very slowly.
Step 4
In the MS-DOS command line, enter the drive letter that corresponds to the Windows CD-ROM drive. Press the enter key, then enter the cd i386 command and the winnt command, pressing Enter after each. This will launch the installation program.
Step 5
Enter the path to the operating system installation files in the command line and press enter. Copying files to the hard drive starts. At the end of this process, a corresponding message will appear, then remove all floppy disks and press Enter. To restart the computer.
Step 6
Wait for the reboot and press enter to continue installing Windows from MS-DOS. Format your hard drive and partition as needed. The computer will then reboot again and the installation will resume in GUI mode. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard to complete the procedure.
