Internet chat allows you to communicate and exchange information with a group of interlocutors in real time. This method of communication is very popular, which is why many web designers include it on their sites. Some chats can be pre-built into the engine, while others require downloading a script in advance.
Instructions
Step 1
Go to the resources of the engine on which your site is built. Some of them have built-in modules and plugins, among which are various chats. If you do not like the proposed modifications, then you can go to the official website of the engine developers and download the script you like. They are usually free to use.
Step 2
After that, go to the admin panel of the site and select the section "Manager of modules and extensions". Specify the path to the archive of the downloaded chat and click the "Unpack and install" button. Then just add the chat to the desired place on the site.
Step 3
Download any chat you like from the Internet, if the site is handwritten and supports php. This method of installing a chat is also suitable for sites powered by the engine. Copy the chat folder to the root directory of the resource. Paste the URL of the location of the chat folder into the address bar of your browser and press Enter. The installation of the chat will start, after the end of which, create a MySQL database of the chat and mark it on the site page.
Step 4
Write the chat script yourself. You can also copy it from the Internet or order it from specialists who will develop a chat according to your requirements. Open the site in editor mode and go to the main page. Open the chat script in a text document and copy the contents of its code.
Step 5
Select the place on the site page where you want to place this module and insert the script. If the chat is made in Java, then just save and refresh the page, after which you can check its functionality. If the script is made in php, then before starting the chat, you need to create a MySQL database to store the data.
Step 6
Read the readme.txt file that comes with the module or chat script before installing it on the site. It contains, as a rule, installation instructions and specifics of setting up and adding additional elements (for example, emoticons). The methods of solving the arisen problems during the chat operation are also indicated.
